Day 4 of 21: Vitality #DisruptTheGap

Day 4 of 21 – Vitality #DisruptTheGap

What affects your energy? Is it possible to make a shift? If you judge yourself harshly, and talk negatively to yourself, would you kindly stop for a week to see what happens?

It’s been time for me to start the 21 day “Clean” program detox & cleanse for several months, but the espresso every morning, and the occasional glass of wine in the evening brings pleasure. The reality of no sugar, flour, dairy, caffeine, or alcohol for 21 days feels exhausting. Except, I’m exhausted, especially as I’ve slowly added sugar and flour into my food choices. I know myself well enough that I do best when I go all in, and I know increased energy and vitality flows when I eat clean.

I desire more energy, to feel stronger, and drop the 15+ pounds that is slowly creeping up from not eating clean. Equally important to me is regular exercise—I love hot yoga and spin, and not making classes, or making time at home to exercise because of a full work schedule is only an excuse to myself.

Today, I started, and I’ll survive, though maybe a bit grumpy and extra sleepy the first few days of the clean cleanse. My body will give me feedback quickly, and I know my joints won’t ache in a week, and I’ll wake up ready to go, and lose the afternoon slump that causes me to walk a few offices over, where there’s a ready supply of MnMs. Soon, any cravings will disappear. I know all this from experience, and so why do I forget, and slowly make choices that have such a profound unhealthy effect? There are all sorts of eating regimes and plans, and for me, a kickstart like this is the way to go. The cucumber soup tonight was delicious, along with wild salmon from the river a few miles away.

I’ll still have a coffee in the morning, so I’m not totally all in. But for the past month I’ve been making a special dairy-free blend that is amazing! I’ll disrupt my food supply with determination, and carefully do my hunting and gathering. Soon, it will be easy. For now, it’s intention and focus to bridge this gap and disrupt habits, together with pre-planning healthy meals, being prepared, and kind to myself.
